Teamsters Reach Tentative Agreement at First Student Through 2026
May 12, 2021 | Teamster leaders from local unions that represent First Student workers voted unanimously to endorse the tentative National Master First Student Agreement, paving the way for members to vote on the agreement in the near future. A sole no vote was inadvertently cast but was immediately rescinded after the meeting. Ballots will be mailed to members on or about June 7 and are scheduled to be counted on or about June 28. The new agreement includes additional safety provisions added in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, an additional stipend for company-required medical examinations and enhanced paycheck protections, and perhaps most notably, language that makes Teamsters at First Student eligible to participate in certain union health care and retirement plans. Teamsters Urge Republic Services Shareholders to Oppose Say-On-Pay
May 19, 2021 | The Teamsters join leading proxy advisory firm, Institutional Shareholder Services (“ISS”), in urging investors to vote against Republic Services, Inc.’s executive pay package (“Say-on-Pay”) at the company’s shareholder meeting on May 21. At issue is the board’s controversial decision to waive a 12-month advanced notice requirement for CEO Slager’s retirement, allowing him to retire next month with the full-vesting of all his outstanding equity awards. Cloverland Dairy Members Approve One-Year Contract Extension With Signing Bonus
May 19, 2021 | Teamsters Local 570 members employed at Cloverland Dairy in Baltimore, Md. agreed this month to extend their current contract for a period of one year. The agreement includes a group of 15 non-union workers in the bargaining unit; the workers make container jugs for dairy products. The Local also secured a number of contract language changes.
